Spring Newsletter 2012
Spring is just around the corner, it has been a mild winter to say the least. Minnesota’s winter catch and release season for trout is currently open and will run until March 31, 2012, Minnesota’s regular trout season for streams opens April 14, 2012. Stream trout fishing in lakes opens May 12, 2012 in Minnesota. Wisconsin’s early catch and release trout season opens March 3, 2012 and runs until April 29, 2012 with their regular season opening May 5, 2012. Try and take advantage of some of these early opportunities’ for some early fly fishing.
We will have a booth at the Red River Valley Sportsman Show in Fargo from March 1st through the 4th this year if you get to the show stop and see us. They have a great lineup of speakers well worth the admission fee. The Fly Shop will be closed during this time but we will be open until the 1st and back open on March 5th for your entire fly fishing needs. We just got in our 1st spring shipment of new flies so now is the time to stock up for those spring trips.
We are looking forward to the guiding season again this year and the opportunity to fish with old and new friends. We will again be offering trout trips on our stream trout lakes and fly fishing trips so book early to get your spot. We also offer clinics for fly rod casting, fly tying and we can schedule workshops for groups of 4 or more people that want to get started in fly fishing. You won’t be disappointed as fly fishing is a challenging and fun pursuit and we get to enjoy the great outdoors that we have been blessed with.

Roxanne and I along with family and friends will be making our annual trip to the Bighorn River in Montana at the end of March, we look forward to this trip every spring, if you’ve never been to the bighorn you are missing out as this is a destination fishery with literally 1000’s of trout per river mile. If it’s your first time we would recommend a guide for at least a day to get to know the river especially if your alone and unfamiliar with the river. We have stayed with ABSARAKA FISHING BEAR CABINS @ http://www.bighornfishingbearlodge.com ever since we began going to the bighorn and would highly recommend them to anyone!
